Abstract This paperdescribesthenovelobserver-basedcontrollerdesignfortheone-sidedLipschitznonlinear systems. Anobserver-basedcontrollerdesignconditionisobtainedbyapplicationoftheLyapunovtheory, by involvingtheone-sidedLipschitzconditionandquadraticinner-boundednesscriterion,andby incorporating thematrixinequalityprocedures.Further,adecouplingcondition,necessaryandsufficient for the maindesignapproach,isdevelopedtodeterminethecontrollerandobservergains.Furthermore,two design conditions,acomputationallysimplesufficient conditionandamoregenericnecessaryandsufficient condition, basedontheexistingandthenoveltreatmentsfortheone-sidedLipchitznonlinearityare evaluated toobtaintheobserver-basedcontrolsolution.Analgorithmforsolvingtheproposeddesign constraints bycombininganestedbilinear-terms-solverapproachandanonlinear-optimization-basedcone complementary linearizationmethodisprovided.Theeffectivenessoftheproposedobserver-based controller designfortheone-sidedLipschitznonlinearsystemsisdemonstratedusing
